New Art for the Art Machine – Art from Pöllau
Vernissage at the Art Vending Machine

For this year’s Art Machine cycle, we invited two artists from Pöllau and Pöllauberg to create new miniature artworks.

The new pieces will be filled into the Art Machine at Pöllau’s main square for the first time on Sunday, 12 Novemberand will be available for purchase at €4 each.
Previous editions from earlier cycles will also remain available.

The artists of Art Machine Cycle 8.0 are  Simon Brugner and Johannes Schweighofer.
Introductory words by Katharina Sieghartsleitner, artist and curator.

The first refill of the Art Machine will take place during the theatrical performance "Mission Sant Climent" by the Eastern Styrian performance collective KRA mit Nora Köhler und Vera Kopfauf.

KRA is a performance collective that operates at the intersection of satire and political action. Artists Nora Köhler and Vera Kopfauf – from a small village in Eastern Styria – travel the world to speak with people about the conflicts they face.
In Mission Sant Climent, they turn their attention to the Catalan independence crisis.

"Yes, when you look at the big wide world and its big problems, it’s easy to feel small and alone. But we don’t look at the big world—we look at the small one. Because that’s where we come from, that’s what we know.
And there we’ve learned: there’s hardly a problem that can’t be tackled—or even solved—with the right conversation, an argument, and a glass of schnapps.
So we address the pressing crises of our time. We head out and show up wherever there are problems—always with open ears and a bottle of fruit schnapps in our bag."

The performance highlights the importance of questioning one's own perspective and stepping outside the comfort zone to gain deeper understanding of complex issues. One of the project’s goals is to develop a growing collection of strategies, behaviors, and approaches for handling different kinds of conflict. KRA is an ongoing attempt to establish a shared language of coping—one that transcends cultural and geographic boundaries.

Koncept & Performance: Nora Köhler & Vera Kopfauf
Music: Jakob Kolb. The performance is an excerpt from a full-length piece to be staged in January at Theater im Bahnhof. Graz (11–15 January).

In case of rain, we’ll move to a nearby indoor space.
The event is free and open to the public.
