About Styrian Summer Art

The Styrian Summer Art association was founded in 2005 by Michaela Zingerle and Eftichia Schlamadinger. The aim was and is to offer artistic courses for participants of all ages, amateurs and interested artists, which take place in an inspiring environment and in a personal atmosphere. The course instructors are proven experts in their field, with academic training and are artists themselves.

In addition to the art courses from all art disciplines, which take place every summer under the motto "faben.formen.festival" in the Pöllau Valley Nature Park, the association organizes numerous other cultural projects, primarily in Eastern Styria. The focus is on culturally relevant training courses for protagonists and interested parties (for example on public relations or funding opportunities) as well as networking programs for artists in Styria, from the Alpe-Adria regions and from Scandinavia, for example with excursions to festivals. Another field of action is the effort to make contemporary art from and in the region visible. To this end, the 44qm gallery in Hartberg has been in operation for several years and the smallest art space in Pöllau, the Art Machine, is filled with contemporary art in small format.

According to the UNESCO World Conference on Arts Education, "Arts education for all" without exclusion and access restrictions is binding for Styrian Summer Art.

To our range of courses

"The Summer Art courses are generously spread across the grounds in and around Schloss Pöllau, which creates an intimate yet varied setting”

Verena Rotky

"I find it very stimulating to work creatively with others. The different approaches in the group are enriching. And it's fascinating to see how special works are created at the same time in other courses using different techniques."

A.M.

"The special location, the beauty of the surrounding nature and the exchange with inspiring people make the workshops in the Pöllau Valley Nature Park a lasting experience.”

Enrico Jakob

"The calligraphy course at Schloss Pöllau opened up a new world for me. Although I was the only beginner on the course, I felt very comfortable in the group thanks to the attentive guidance.”
