About Styrian Summer Art

The Styrian Summer Art Association was founded in 2005 by Michaela Zingerle and Eftichia Schlamadinger. Its aim is to promote art and creativity through workshops for all age groups, from amateurs to professional artists. The courses are led by academically trained artists and take place in inspiring surroundings in the Pöllau Valley Nature Park.

In addition to the annual summer workshops at the farben.formen.festival, the association organizes numerous cultural projects in Eastern Styria. These include

  • Further training for cultural professionals (public relations, funding opportunities)
  • Networking programs for artists from Styria, the Alps-Adriatic region and Scandinavia, such as excursions and festival visits
  • Promotion of contemporary art in the region, such as the Art Machine in Pöllau

The association follows the principles of the UNESCO World Conference on Arts Education " Art education for all” and focuses on artistic education without exclusion and access restrictions.

To our range of courses

"The Summer Art courses are generously spread across the grounds in and around Schloss Pöllau, which creates an intimate yet varied setting”

Verena Rotky

"I find it very stimulating to work creatively with others. The different approaches in the group are enriching. And it's fascinating to see how special works are created at the same time in other courses using different techniques."

A.M.

"The special location, the beauty of the surrounding nature and the exchange with inspiring people make the workshops in the Pöllau Valley Nature Park a lasting experience.”

Enrico Jakob

"The calligraphy course at Schloss Pöllau opened up a new world for me. Although I was the only beginner on the course, I felt very comfortable in the group thanks to the attentive guidance.”
