The Europe Code Week is a Europe-wide initiative launched by the Young Advisors and the Digital Champions of former EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes in 2013. CodeWeek has been held annually in October ever since. The goals are
- Encourage young people, children and women to learn the increasingly important cultural technique of coding.
- Raise awareness at all European and national levels
- Promote co-operation between existing initiatives and groups in the field
- Sharing examples from the field
- Organising events and workshops on programming in all EU member states
In July 2023, young people in Gleisdorf, Slovenia and the Netherlands took their first steps in programming with Scratch under the guidance of Codeweek Leading Teacher and media artist Cym. Now they have the opportunity to share their experiences with each other as part of the European Code Week. Cym will be holding another workshop with interested young people at the Auszeit youth centre on 18 October in a video link with Slovenia and the Netherlands.
Alle interessierten Jugendlichen mit Scratch-Erfahrung sind dazu eingeladen. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos.
On 4 and 11 October, young people can improve their Scratch skills in an online training course (14:30 to 18:30).
