Creative young people aged between 10 and 15 will become real programming artists when they spend three days developing and programming their own creative game ideas on the topics of ‘Together in Europe’ or ‘How do we want to live’.
At the same time, a group of young people in Slovenia will work on the topics and the young people will meet online afterwards via video call to share their experiences. The result is joint works in which the young people can present their countries to each other and learn from each other, thus developing the experience of living together in peace.
Dutch art lecturer and programming artist Simone von Groenestijn/Cym will show the young people how they can develop their own computer games using the programming tool ‘Scratch’ and present their projects using augmented reality. The aim is to teach the young people the basic concepts of programming so that they become familiar with important digital skills and combine their knowledge with valuable content, and on the workshop days, the young people can enjoy a cheap lunch in the Chance B canteen. The project concludes with a presentation to which the public is also invited.
The project takes place in cooperation with the city of Gleisdorf, the Auszeit youth centre and the Slovenian cultural association MIKK in Murska Sobota. Funded by the Department 9 Europe and External Relations of the Province of Styria.
