feld*stellen

Let us stand up resolutely and steadfastly for humanity, equality and peace. In a moment together, we create a strong symbol for diversity. A "field of light” of empathy is created - for a happy, peaceful and communal life. Let's give courage!

For this action, we position ourselves on a prepared "field” on the main square of Pöllau, in front of one of the candles arranged in a grid.

We, the Frauen*Netzwerk Oststeiermark, are a group of committed women, activists and interested people from Pöllau and the surrounding area. We are looking forward to proclaiming statements on International Women's Day, equality, peace and solidarity together and demanding them in an atmosphere of powerful silence.

Heidrun Primas, Edith Zitz and Michaela Zingerle will guide us through the feld*stellen.

Martina Hirt will accompany us vocally with the hymn "Bread and Roses”.

With this rally, we want to make the rights of women*, especially immigrant women, publicly visible and express our appreciation and solidarity. We are united by the desire for change, regardless of party affiliation, ideology or religion.

The event takes place as part of the alliance www.0803.at The motto of FRAUEN*MÄRZ 2024 is:

We care! Responsibility and justice for all!

feldstellen* was developed by a group of artists around the Forum Stadtpark Graz for Human Rights Day on December 10, 2017 and implemented for the first time on Human Rights Square in Graz. At the time, the slogan was:

"In a present that is coming apart at the seams, in which people refer to national identity in an exclusionary way, there is a desire for a lively togetherness.

On Human Rights Day, December 10, 2017, hundreds of people gather at sunrise at the Platz der Menschenrechte in Graz City Park. At a distance of 1.8 meters from each other, the entire area from the fountain across the meadow through the Forum Stadtpark is filled with people. The bodies, one next to the other, form a monument, a temporary sculpture, a network. The presence shows determination: standing firm for humanity. In the shared moment, a multiplicity is formed. A statement. A field of empathy.”

In the meantime, the artistic format has been implemented several times as a social sculpture in various public places. Several times at Freiheitsplatz in Graz as a form of demonstration for the "Weekend for Moria”, for people on the run, not only at the borders of Europe. Or on 8.11.2023 to commemorate the victims of the November pogroms of 1938, against terror, hatred, anti-Semitism and war and for peaceful coexistence based on solidarity.

It is now called feld*stellen. Or on Human Rights Day, 10.12.2023, in front of the Schutzengelkirche in Graz, after a peace concert as part of Sounding Jerusalem. Most recently on 2.2.2024 on the main square in Frohnleiten as a peace rally, following on from an exhibition in the Narrenkastl by Julia Kastler, who reflected on human rights on the occasion of her 75th anniversary and women as peacemakers and activists.

Heidrun Primas headed the  Forum Stadtpark, for 10 years and is currently working as an independent consultant together with Werner Schrempf Kulturstrategie 2030 - Kulturelle Zukunft des Landes Steiermark. She initiated "feld*stellen” together with other artists as a social sculpture in 2017 and is active in civil society, e.g. with the associationFlüchtlingshilfe – Doro Blancke.

This event is part of the Women*March 2024 Bündnis 0803, powered by Women*s Action Forum .
