Event description
We and the GKP - Styrian Society for Cultural Policy are delighted to take you on our Landpartie and invite you to an exciting park talk with renowned and expressive artists. Koncept GKP – Steirische Gesellschaft für Kulturpolitik in cooperation with Women*s Action Forum
We are dedicated to the artistic appropriation of materials from a feminist perspective in various disciplines such as sculpture, ceramics, mixing desk/DJing and cyanotype, as well as graffiti. We see this appropriation as an act of resistance and reinterpretation.
Feminist art often aims to question and reinterpret traditional, patriarchal notions of material and technique. For example, DJing, which is traditionally seen as "masculine”, can be used by female artists to explore themes such as strength and durability from a female perspective. Similarly, sculpture, which has historically been dominated by male artists, can serve as a means to visualise female forms and experiences.
Through the conscious choice and use of materials, female artists convey important messages and challenge stereotypical gender roles. They create new spaces of meaning and contribute to the diversification of the art world by expressing their own experiences, perspectives and identities while reflecting on and expanding the historical and social contexts of these materials.
Event programme:
A studio tour in selected workshops of Styrian Summer Art in Pöllau near Hartberg
A park talk in Pöllau Castle Park with artists and cultural mediators
A cosy picnic in the park to get to know each other and exchange ideas

The Grrrls DJ Crew, consisting of thirteen female* performers, was founded in 2017 due to the underrepresentation of female* DJs in the club scene and sees itself as an active contribution to equal rights in practice. In the workshop, they will not only teach you how to set up your DJ set, but also chat a little about the ins and outs: how do you prepare for your first gig and where can you play as a "DJ rookie"? Where is the good music at home and who else lives there? How does it feel to be part of the best DJ crew in Graz?
