Workshop description:
This unique painting trip takes us to the north of Europe - to Denmark! Our base is the town of Helsingør, or Elsinore as it is known in English, just 50 km north of Copenhagen.
With its particularly picturesque town center that has remained unchanged for centuries, the harbor area that was completely redesigned in 2010 (spectacular Maritime Museum!) and many cultural institutions, this town is an ideal starting point for our first sketches of typical Danish town houses and courtyards.
At the same time, the Passage Festival takes place - the coolest and most beautiful street theater festival in Northern Europe.
Another motif of our creative days is one of Denmark's most famous castles, Kronborg Castle: it is located in Helsingør and is known as the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet. Every year, the Danes celebrate Shakespeare's castle with international guest performances, often with the royal family as interested spectators.
The picturesque fishing villages of Hornbæk and Gilleleje provide a particularly beautiful backdrop for our travel watercolors - but also the beach with its white sand dunes and green beech forests on the Baltic Sea.
The highlight is the day trip to Copenhagen - here, too, Nyhavn with its colorful boats and town houses, pretty alleys and markets await us, whose atmosphere we will capture in quick and experimental sketches.
Workshop leader
Eftichia Schlamadinger was born in Graz, Austria. She studied at the University of Tennessee/USA & KnoxCounty Community College/Tennessee, USA as well as in studio classes with renowned international artists.
Eftichia has been working full-time as a freelance artist, certified cultural manager and lecturer for painting & graphics at international art academies and art institutions since 2003. Director of the mobile art school ArtCourses (www.artcourses.com), co-founder of the summer art festival "Styrian Summer Art” and the Aflenzer Kunstwochen (w). Since 1994 exhibition activities and participation in international artist competitions at home and abroad (e.g. New York, Montreal, Dubai, Luxembourg, Art-Week Berlin, Florence and in the organization and concept development of regional and international cultural/art projects.
