Advance booking - waiting list possible! Painting and festival trip to Denmark: watercolors and urban sketching with Eftichia Schlamadinger

Workshop description:

This unique painting trip takes us to the north of Europe - to Denmark! Our base is the town of Helsingør, or Elsinore as it is known in English, just 50 km north of Copenhagen.

With its particularly picturesque town center that has remained unchanged for centuries, the harbor area that was completely redesigned in 2010 (spectacular Maritime Museum!) and many cultural institutions, this town is an ideal starting point for our first sketches of typical Danish town houses and courtyards.

At the same time, the Passage Festival takes place - the coolest and most beautiful street theater festival in Northern Europe.

Another motif of our creative days is one of Denmark's most famous castles, Kronborg Castle: it is located in Helsingør and is known as the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet. Every year, the Danes celebrate Shakespeare's castle with international guest performances, often with the royal family as interested spectators.

The picturesque fishing villages of Hornbæk and Gilleleje provide a particularly beautiful backdrop for our travel watercolors - but also the beach with its white sand dunes and green beech forests on the Baltic Sea.

The highlight is the day trip to Copenhagen - here, too, Nyhavn with its colorful boats and town houses, pretty alleys and markets await us, whose atmosphere we will capture in quick and experimental sketches.

Under the experienced guidance and artistic assistance of Eftichia Schlamadinger, we will develop our own artistic signature while sketching, drawing and painting.

The painting tour is an event organized by Michaela Zingerle/Art Connect, together with Art Courses and in cooperation with Styrian Summer Art. The terms and conditions of Styrian Summer Art apply.

Itinerary 

(itinerary subject to change depending on weather conditions). All routes are covered either on foot or by train. Danish public transport is well developed and similar in price to our ÖBB network.

Morning: Painting typical Danish town houses and courtyards, afternoon/evening: Painting in the harbor, cultural shipyard, Kronborg Castle.

Day trip to Copenhagen: We walk from the central station past Tivoli Park through the city center to Nyhaven, from there we make a detour over the bridge to Christianshavn, before we walk along the pier along the water to the "Little Mermaid”, past the Royal Danish Theater, Amalienborg Palace with many spots for our travel sketches.

On the way back we visit the famous Frederik's Church. Copenhagen awaits us with incredibly nice cafés, colorful boats, Hanseatic houses of wealthy citizens, wide blue canals, and we will taste the famous Danish Smœrrebrœd.

Optional: Visit to the Tegner Museum - a beautiful sculpture park in the middle of the gently undulating heathland of North Zealand, and painting on the beach at Gilleleje, a picturesque fishing village with white sand dunes and green beech forests on the Baltic Sea.

Arrival by train: Possibly by car train to Hamburg or couchette sleeper train. This usually goes via Hamburg.

Arrival by car: via Hamburg or via Berlin. In both cases, a toll for the Storebælt Bridge or ferry from Rostock or Lübeck must be taken into account.

If partners (without course participation) would like to travel with you, this is also possible at a reduced travel price - depending on room availability!
