In her workshop ‘Improvisational theatre - the magic of the moment’, actress, director and trainer Alice Mortsch draws on the full potential of Styrian Summer Art. Her troupe is in full swing at the final presentation and the audience is thrilled. And so are the newly qualified actors.
That is the secret of this success? Alice Mortsch describes it like this: ‘Styrian Summer Art is a source of creativity in a wonderful place. I like the symbiosis between the castle premises, the town of Pöllau and the art academy. All three are inspired and enhanced by the other two aspects - great!’
Does this mean that the juxtaposition of different artistic currents leads to cross-fertilisation? ‘Yes, absolutely,’ Mortsch is convinced: ’People explore, create and work artistically side by side and letting the arts get a taste of each other is very inspiring for future projects.’
The shining eyes of the course participants prove her right. They made friends, exchanged ideas and networked for further brilliant achievements. The fact that these conversations take place in a cosy setting during joint visits to the tavern makes the exchange even more charming. Over a homemade snack and refreshing drinks, people chat cheerfully and laugh heartily.
There are many overlapping possibilities, but we are still looking for boundaries. Almost everything that is creative and unusual has a place in the Styrian Summer Art programme. The interaction is empathetic, respectful and characterised by a high level of appreciation. The fantastic setting that Schloss Pöllau has to offer gives rise to meaning that each and every participant transfers into their own artistic perception. Nature is omnipresent - not only in the beautiful Pöllau Valley Nature Park, but above all in the culinary delicacies that biologist, organic baker and baking genius Carmen Dreier-Zwetti from "Apfelschmiede 3er" in Pöllau conjures up with her own hands. Unanimous credo: ‘We'll be back!’
