The artists Erika Kronabitter, Dunja Krzek and Doris Reinbacher worked with the pupils of NMS Pöllau
In the week from 10 to 14 February, pupils from the third grade at Pöllau Nature Park Middle School were able to find out what special features nature has in store for creative work in winter. The project started with a natural history excursion with nature park experts Stefan and Victoria Zukrigl. The focus was on recognising plants in their winter state, their survival strategies in winter and collecting a variety of material for further work. Over the next three days, the pupils worked with three artists in three different workshops to create a variety of pictures and objects. Doris Reinbacher used berries, leaves, flower remnants and vegetables to create natural colours, which were processed into amazingly colourful pictures. Dunja Krcek drew attention to the colours and colour nuances of the collected plant remains, bark and the like. In the end, all of this was transformed into imaginative objects. With Erika Kronabitter, the groups arranged what they found in the park into installations, photographed them and commented on the photos in their own texts. The resulting works from this week were finally presented in the school's assembly hall. A video from the school also gives an impression of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNj0fJ5RuYs

Nature Park Pöllauer Tal
covers an area of 124 km² and offers a diverse landscape ranging from the gentle hills of the Rabenwald forest to the species-rich orchards. These orchards are particularly valuable for biodiversity and provide a habitat for rare animal species such as the little owl and hoopoe. The nature park promotes sustainable management, in which traditional agriculture is in harmony with nature conservation, with the guiding theme: protection through utilisation. Recognised as a "KEM - Climate and Energy Model Region" since 2012, "KLAR! - Climate Change Adaptation Region" since 2017.
Veronika Zukrigl, Natur- und Landschaftsvermittlerin, provides interesting information about the habitats and biodiversity of the nature park.
