My impressions of Styrian Summer Art in the centre of Pöllau

One thing is certain! When I think of this summer of 2024 in the future, I will do so in connection with Styrian Summer Art for a long time to come. I was lucky enough to be able to take part in the street theatre workshop ‘Bring Joy to the City’ with Adrian Svarzstein ...

Perhaps the lucky people of Pöllau don't even realise how beautiful this place is and how its good vibes nourish and inspire visitors to the art workshops? You can only find the serenity, concentration, courage, strength and attention to devote yourself fully to your (artistic) ambitions in good places, and Styrian Summer Art clearly has them. The premises of Pöllau Castle are beautiful and surrounded by beauty, it is much easier to feel at ease and get into a productive creative process.

And not to forget: The local people! For me from Graz, the people of Pöllau are remarkably friendly and welcoming, easy to talk to, and of course the guiding artists and the Styrian Summer Art Team, who make sure that the festival turns out the way we participants would like it to, are the ones who put their heart and soul into making it a success. And so, on behalf of all participants, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for this time, full of wonderful moments of creativity, high-quality learning and art!

Styrian Summer Art

Eftichia Schlamadinger brought me to Pöllau years ago. I had already attended courses with her. Unfortunately in the city centre. So I combined wellness and summer holidays with being creative in Pöllau. Until then, Pöllau was a blank slate for me. The surroundings are perfect for relaxing.

Being able to use the former refectory of the canons' monastery as a studio brings a completely different energy to creative work. Apart from that, I had the feeling that everything was well organised. It was everything you could wish for. Uncomplicated, not over-organised. But noticeably regional and innovative. The other courses with Gollo and Eftichia also offered a great overall package. Being creative in a relaxed atmosphere with like-minded people, trying out new things, learning - for me, this has been pure relaxation in a warm environment.
